ABOUT US AND
STITCHERS'LAST STAND
We are Gayle and John Parsons and we live in Delta Junction, Alaska.  As an avid cross stitcher, I was tired of cross stitching on a scroll while holding it cradled in my left hand and manipulating it while I stitched with my right hand. I tried to use a stand that had one leg, while sitting in a recliner, but then I experienced back aches in no time. I really wanted to sit in my recliner with my feet up and in a relaxed position.  So I told my husband that I would like something that would hold my scroll for me and allow me to put my feet up so I could be comfortable.  He scratched his head, took some measurements and headed to the shop. He came back with what is today known as STITCHERS' LAST STAND. I was thrilled and it wasn't long before I could use both hands, one under and one above.  I can adjust the scroll across the top to work on the right or left edge of my fabric and I can easily flip the scroll over to work on the back side.  Soon, friends and family were encouraging us to make them to sell.  So today, we have set up a shop right here in Delta Junction and we handcraft the stands in 3 widths and 4 colors.
John stays busy working at the Base and part time he runs Parsons' Truck & Auto Repair, hunting and fishing.
WHERE IS
DELTA JUNCTION, ALASKA?
We live in a small interior Alaska community near the new Missile Defense Test Site, located at the former Fort Greely Army Base. Our community is made up of farmers, military and civil service families, small business owners and Alaskan pioneers.  You'll find some who came to visit or were stationed here by the Army and decided they just couldn't leave.  Delta Junction is about 100 miles south east of Fairbanks, the nearest city.  Our climate is mostly a winter and a summer with very short spring and fall. Winter can be very long, dark and cold. But our reward for surviving winter is a beautiful, warm, mostly dry, with lots of daylight, summer. So there is plenty of time during the winter to stitch & sew the long evenings away!
